Located on the shores of the St. Lawrence and intersected by Rivière du Petit Saut, Sainte-Croix has long lived off the water's bounty. The foundry built here in 1918 brought prosperity to the municipality. A thriving service centre, Sainte-Croix's economy is today divided between holiday resorts, the furniture industry, the metal industry, transportation, agriculture and a highly developed service sector, which are the driving force of the local economy.
