The lac Caribou trail is a 5.5-km loop in the forest that runs alongside the shores of a pristine lake and large bog. It features numerous viewpoints and 93 species of birds have been sighted within this natural habitat. Old growth forest sectors. Interpretation panels. Somewhat flat terrain. Low to intermediate difficulty. Hiking time: 2 and a half to 3 hours. Dogs allowed. The entrance is located between 200 and 190, Rang 5, in Lac-Etchemin. The Haute Etchemin trail, skirts the river in the wooded areas and is open along 3 km (6 km return trip), with 700 m. adapted for wheelchairs. Interpretation panels. Rest areas, picnic tables. Low difficulty. Dogs allowed. The entrance is located behind 524 rue du Sanctuaire, in Lac-Etchemin. These trails managed by the Association écologique des Etchemins are open year round and access is free. Information and maps are available on the website of the municipality or by phone.
