Paddling enthusiasts can take their canoes and kayaks out on the Noire Nord-Ouest river. The one- to two-day itinerary starts at Talon lake and ends at Frontière lake (30 km). It is not necessary to paddle the whole route since launch sites to get on and off the water are available along the way. A shuttle service is offered for the return trip and rustic campsites are available free-of-charge. This river, whose difficulty is intermediate, features obstacles in some areas, therefore portage trails are available. The last part (7 km) is in calm waters so return trips are possible. It is the ideal place to learn canoeing or kayaking. Canoes and kayak rental is offered at the reception office in Sainte-Lucie-de-Beauregard. Note: canoe rental depends on level of river. Boat rental: $6/hour, $20/half-day, $35/day, free for those with their own boats. Rabaska and pontoon rides are also available.
